1. Baywatch (May 25)
Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron team up to recreate the ’90s TV series of the same name, this time featuring less drama and more hysterical comedy. The movie has already hit $4.5 million for its opening day.

2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (May 26)
One of the most anticipated Disney movies of 2017, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise makes a comeback with its latest installment: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Johnny Depp fans are on the edge of their seats to see if this film could be his (and Jack Sparrow’s) comeback film.
After the Super Bowl debut of the latest Pirates trailer, fans have been hyping up the release of this movie. The fourth film in the franchise, which was released in 2011, reached a whopping box office gross of $1.045 billion. Critics wonder if this momentum will continue six years later.
3. Wonder Woman (June 2)
With Gal Gadot starring as the title character, Wonder Woman may just be one of the most anticipated DC movies of all time. This will be the first ever theatrical film to present Wonder Woman’s story, which is making comic book fans go berserk.
Box office predictions for this movie are optimistic, given Wonder Woman’s status as one of the most prominent female comic book leads of all time. The lead actress herself shared at a press screening, “It’s great that after 75 or 6 years she finally gets her own movie.”
4. Cars 3 (June 16)
With Pixar’s massive sequel success with Finding Dory in 2016, the numbers look promising for 2017’s Cars 3. Although critic scores declined, Cars 2 (2011) beat its 2006 predecessor with over $560 million at the box office.

5. Despicable Me 3 (June 30)
With its first movie in 2010, Despicable Me has become one of the most famous–or infamous–franchises of this generation. Children and adults alike love the fresh humor and somewhat devious plot of these new Illumination Entertainment movies.
The most recent installment, Minions (2015), even managed to gross over $1.1 billion. Fans will admit the minions are carrying a lot of hype for the upcoming Despicable Me 3 film. In fact, the official minions page on Facebook has reached nearly 35 million likes. Illumination Entertainment is even planning a second Minions movie to come out in 2020.
6. Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7)
Even though the last Spider-Man movie came out only less than three years ago, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War inspired the need for a modern Spidey tale. Marvel Studios continues to release new trailers of this movie, cranking the anticipation meter to the max.
With a killer release date, 7.7.17, Homecoming is predicted to reach $135 million at the box office opening weekend. Recently, Marvel Studios has achieved success after success, and Homecoming looks like it will simply be another step in the equation. Its most recent release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already hit almost $750 million.
7. War for the Planet of the Apes (July 14)
War for the Planet of the Apes ranks as one of the most anticipated movies coming out soon. Fox Studios rebooted the franchise in 2011, and War will be the third movie for this decade. 2014’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes grossed over $710 million in lifetime box office numbers.
The Hollywood Reporter predicts that the film “might end up being the most political blockbuster of the year.” The sci-fi drama will attempt to captivate audiences this summer with its mid-July release date.
8. Dunkirk (July 21)
This film makes it on the most anticipated movies list because who doesn’t love a good war movie? Dunkirk chronicles the Battle of Dunkirk, which occurred between the Allies and Nazi Germany during World War II.
Box Office Pro admits “social media buzz is pointedly sharper” for Dunkirk than other films two months before release, which is promising. With legendary composer Hans Zimmer to score the film, this drama film expects to reach $60 million opening weekend.
9. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (July 21)
Another comic-based movie, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has been distributing impressive trailers for months now. With popularity for sci-fi films on the rise, predictions for Valerian look promising.
Rising stars Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan star may be driving a lot of the buzz for this new movie. As the hype for this movie increases, Valerian is labeled as one of the most anticipated upcoming films this summer.
10. The Emoji Movie (July 28)
Presented by Sony Pictures Animation, The Emoji Movie is expected to make waves among younger audiences. The new trailer shows that the film may be strikingly similar to the exciting plot of the popular 2015 movie, Inside Out. But this time, the adventure will be inside a boy’s phone, not a girl’s head.
Although this movie might not top the box office, it will certainly make an impact in the theaters this summer. The movie will feature a handful of big-name voice actors, including Christina Aguilera and James Corden.
